Baby not thriving ?

My brothers baby is 5 months and only 11 pounds. He seems to not be looking around much or moving when held I held him for almost 3 Hours and no wiggles , crying or looking around. Correct me if I’m wrong but is there something wrong with this baby ? The mother smoked weed throughout the pregnancy. I think somethings not right ? But not sure what the diagnosis would be ? Ideas please.

Baby needs to go to a paediatrician. My 3 month old is incredibly active, alert, and engaged. Sounds like something is wrong. I hope it works out for your brother.

Smoking pot while pregnant causes low birth weight and causes the baby not to be able to gain weight well and also cause the baby to be slow developing when it comes to their motor skills and the child will also have a hard time in school once he gets older in his ability to learn I know people will argue saying that there's no actual proof on this due to the lack of amount of studies done but I have witnessed first hand how pot effects the baby

Where are you guys located that the baby hasn't had a check up every 2 months? It's standard for us and I just assumed it was a nationwide thing... Baby definitely needs help, if I were you I'd step in ASAP before something horrible happens. You don't need to spend your time thinking "if only I had..."

Yeah...my baby is 5 months and 17 lbs...he’s so active, everyone calls him wiggle worm.  That doesn’t sound good to me.

I know a few people that have smoked weed while pregnant and their kids are perfectly healthy and active actually 2 are straight a students maybe she was on something else noone is aware of.....but anyway not the point here....yes something is definitely wrong with the baby not doing anything he should have seen a dr a couple times already since hes been born and if not then that needs to be reported to dcfs if they refuse to take him to see one.....have you talked to your brother about it?

That's quite tiny for a 5-month-old. Our daughter was about 17 pounds at that point. And his behavior isn't normal at all either. I have 10 years of experience working with infants and toddlers and have never experienced that with a baby,

Weed has nothing to do with it🙄 one of my twins struggles to move his head, he reuses to lift it at all during tummy time. When my other twin is almost sitting up, moves his head and lifts it during tummy time, he’s rolling over and a lot more alert than baby a. I’d bring them to the dr but they could be slower than “normal”

Speak to your brother and encourage him to take the baby to the pediatrician. The baby may have developmental issues that need to be addressed.
