Hospitals Listing Prices

There is a new federal rule that hospitals have to post a master list of pricing for everything — from Tylenol to surgeries — on their website beginning Jan 1st.

Some argue this will help those without insurance price shop and find the best deal for services. Others argue it will cause confusion since what they list won’t always be what you pay if you have insurance. There’s also concerns it will drive hospitals to use cheaper materials to make their prices look lower.
