How to guard yourself against insults
A man would constantly insult Buddha but Buddha remained unfazed.
When asked why, Buddha responded with:
"when someone gives you a gift and you refuse to accept it, to whom does the gift belong?"
There are several ways to guard yourself against insults
1. Ignore it.
This can be helpful but sometimes you may need to stand up for yourself
2. Pause
Take a few seconds to think before answering.
3. Think "what is the intent here?"
Are they trying to hurt you by insulting you or is it something else?
4. Choose not to be offended
You can control your response.
5. Say "your right" if there's truth to the insult
A person cannot argue with you any further if they're right
6. Stand up for yourself..
Remain calm and be honest, but not hurtful. Don't raise your voice or yell. Just stay calm.
