Removing pubic hair

Is it weird to remove pubic hair? I shave all mine off about once a week. My mum says that she thinks removing it is odd (she is in her 50s though so maybe it’s an age thing?) I don’t do it because I feel it is expected, trust me I’m so not the sort of person to do what others expect in that way. I simply shave because I’m more comfortable that way and I’m very feminine and just like to keep all hair in check because that’s how I’m happiest (not that feminine people can’t have natural body hair). I’m having surgery before long and they have to see down below as that’s how they are accessing my uterus, will surgeons think it’s weird? I also don’t know if its a country based thing, I’m in Britain so maybe it’s more an American thing but I don’t know?? This is stressing me out I’ve always been happy shaving it all but now my mum has made me feel so insecure about it. I’m 18 and I think people my age tend to remove it at least partially or am I literally abnormal in my personal preference!!?
