I need advice

So my boyfriend and I have been rocky for the past few weeks. He’s been so distant and taking his stress out on me and wouldn’t give me any attention or listen to me. I met this guy on Kik and we started talking and he was affectionate and loving and it just made me feel so good. I never met him in person or anything like that we just texted back and forth. We texted back and forth for 2 days and my boyfriend found out the second day. He was going through my phone and he found the messages and was heartbroken. I told him everything and why I did it. He said that he understands how it happened but now he’s making me do ridiculous things just to make our relationship work. I understand that I cheated but he’s never shown me as much love as he does now. And I’ve been begging for months for him to show me any type of affection. I guess what I’m asking right now is do I stay in a toxic relationship because I love him or do I call it quits with him?
