What causes infertility in men ?

This might not be a question for this group and i apologize if not but i don’t know where else to get real answers from real people .. I’m tracking my period pretty steadily , TTC and no luck. My boyfriend think his load isn’t working and he doesn’t have the healthiest life style (smoking heavily) so i was wondering if anyone had the same problems or know any at home advice to boost his fertility
