Advice, please.

Sorry for the long post... but I really need some advice and mental support.

My spouse and I had our son in 2010. We were young, I was 19... anyway, I’m due in April with our baby girl. Over the years, I’ve given everything away, etc. Long story short, my spouse just told me that my in laws told him “you can’t have another shower, that’s being desperate, etc.” so he told me not to send them an invite.

I am on the verge of tears (hormonal and in general) because we booked our shower and the invites were supposed to go out next week.

Now, I know when you have babies close together you shouldn’t really have a shower but a “sprinkle”. It’s been 8+ years. On top of that, this is our first girl. IF I was having a boy, I could understand... as I still have a few clothes for an infant boy from our son.

I feel so defeated by their words and discouraged about even having a shower now. My question is: should I even have a baby shower? Is it normal/OK to have one after all this time?
