Hospital cost to have baby?

I have Cigna insurance. DH and I are not pregnant her but hope to be soon. We’ve been working on budgeting for the time I will be off after baby arrives as well as for getting the baby essentials. But I have yet to come across any info regarding what type of hospital bill to expect? I know there can potentially be a lot of other factors come into play but can anyone tell me either what they paid, or what they have had suggested they save for?

It depends on your out of pocket max and coinsurance. I have Cigna with a max of $5000 and a 10% coinsurance so I’ll pay 10% of what my hospital charges up to $5000. 
I had my baby a week ago but haven’t received a bill yet so I’m not sure what I’ll pay exactly.

You won’t get a direct answer as it’s dependent on the hospital and that your insurance covers. We have Cigna as well with an oopm of $1000, it varies!

Paid almost $3500. I got three separate bills. One for myself, one for my daughter, and one for the pediatrician that came in. I requested itemized statements for each because I thought that was crazy. I was charged for my room, the epidural, ibuprofen (I was given it a handful of times and was charged between $24 and $45 each time they gave me two pills...the price was different each time for some reason....so maybe $150 for ten ibuprofen tablets lol), Dermoplast (pain reliever spray that's about $3 at Walgreens was around $30), Tucks Pads (again about $3 at Walgreens was around $30), and that's all I can remember for that. Then my daughter was charged for the "room" she stayed in, which was my room because she literally never left, but they said the bed they sleep in is considered her room! So that clear plastic bin my baby slept in for three days was $1500! It's pretty ridiculous. We have United Healthcare this time, so I'm curious as to what we will be paying out of pocket this go around. I know I'm bringing my own ibuprofen, tucks, and dermoplast 😆

It all depends on your insurance. With ours we pay $2,500 out of pocket and that's it, they cover everything else.

It depends on your insurance plan. My normal vaginal birth with an epidural was about 22k before insurance. So plan on maxing our whatever plan you do have.

As many said it depends. With my insurance if I go to a hospital in network (I have hospital staff insurance) my cost for delivery & stay is $150. If I go to an out of network my cost is $300.

It depends on what your insurance plan covers for pregnancy. I picked my plan because it specifically is amazing for pregnancy. I was in the hospital for 7 days, was induced and then ended up with a c section. We only paid around $2000 and I never paid for a single prenatal apt.
