baby wont sleep in crib?

sometimes he'll go straight to sleep in his crib and other times, he absolutely refuses. i try to calm him down, but he will scream and scream until he can barely breathe and will not stop unless i pick him up. i can get him to calm down for a moment, but then the screaming continues. he literally ends up hyperventilating from screaming so much. idk what to do. im trying to sleep train, but then he does this and it stresses me out

How old is he? What worked for my 15 month old was to let him cry for 10 minutes, then go in his room and rub his back while he’s still in his crib and say “shhhhh, shhhh” or cue words like “it’s night night time” (or whatever you use) to comfort him, but don’t engage him anymore than that, and don’t pick him up. Stay in there for 1 minute to comfort, then leave. He will cry and scream again, but repeating this will let him know he’s ok but he will eventually put himself to sleep. Only go in to comfort if he is seriously protesting, not when he’s just crying a little bit. It’s so hard at first but works! The first night we did this for 1.5 hours but he’s heel sleeping all night ever since!
