Tumor
Today is my first period after losing my baby and being diagnosed with Molar pregnancy.
MP is where instead of a baby, the placenta over grows and takes over and becomes a tumor. The tumor can be invasive and push into the uterine wall and can possibly travel through the blood stream and spread unnoticed. It can also be cancerous, only treatable with chemo and surgery.
I had my tumor removed via d&c two days after my first ultrasound and finding no baby. I have weekly blood draws to check my hCG level to monitor spikes and rises and to see if the tumor cells have grown.
Thankfully my numbers are dropping 5 weeks after my surgery. If they stay low all the way to 0, I won’t need chemo and can be cleared in three months to try again. If not then I’ll need chemo and a possible repeat d&c and the timeline is unknown.
It’s a bittersweet moment getting my period today. It’s good news and healthy but also sad because I’m officially not pregnant anymore. But life goes on...
The ultrasound pic below is what a MP looks like and then a picture of our announcement we were going to post and how we told our parents.
We would of been due June 30th and announced on our 1st wedding anniversary two weeks ago.
