What tests to request

To any expected moms 35 and older. Are there any tests your dr is running due to your age? Also, any tests you would recommend for a FTM at 35?

My docs did the Panorama test with my second daughter (35 at the time of her birth) and the ClariTest with my son (38 at the time of his birth). Both are blood tests that checks for chromosomal abnormalities and the bonus is you can find out the gender as well. My insurance covered both tests because of my age. I got both tests done at 10 weeks and both came back within a week. There was no other tests they gave me for advanced maternal age that were any different than I had with my first daughter (31 at the time of her birth).

We opted to do the Panorama aka NIPT  at 10 weeks because it was a simple blood draw to test for Chromosomal abnormalities and then I had a scan at 12 weeks to check the Nuchal Fold. Other than that I’ll have a couple extra ultrasounds because I’m asthmatic and have been marked as high risk because it’s been so problematic during the pregnancy so far.
Had any of the results from the Panorama come back abnormal we would have had the option to do a CVS or Amnio. I don’t know if we would have though but thankfully all our results came back healthy and our 12 and 20 week scans showed no signs of issues.

I’m doing the Harmony blood test next week. Very similar to Panorama. Not only am I 36, but my last miscarriage was due to the chromosomal abnormality Trisomy 22. And my insurance is horrible and won’t pay for anything except amniocentesis, but after two miscarriages my doctor and I decided not to risk an invasive test.

I had an additional diabetes screening test at 12 weeks because I'm over 35. I will have another one at 28 weeks.
