Mental health assessment and support 😊
Hi March mummas!
As we approach our due dates, it’s important to check in with ourselves and make sure everything is on track. Early intervention can be key to obtaining the right support 👍🏼
This survey was developed in Western Australia by the Department of Psychological Medicine at the King Edward Memorial Hospital, as an expanded solution to the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (also linked below).
Take this along to your next appointment and discuss the different scores, even the low ones can be indicative of something requiring tweaking or support. High numbers is nothing to be ashamed of, and low numbers don’t necessarily mean everything is spot-on - especially if you don’t feel it is.
Our OB gives us a very similar survey at the start of and end of the second trimester to keep track of changing concerns during pregnancy. In speaking to a few girlfriends, it seems that’s not care offered across the board - so please share it with anyone you think could benefit.
Research your local support options, so you know where to go if you or a loved one needs help. Remember that partners can be affected too, so have them look over it with you or together with your doctor.
Here’s to breaking down stigma and stereotypes, and to supporting each other x
