When does the OB check my vagina?

I’m 21 years old. I’ve never had a Pap smear or been checked down there by a gynecologist. I’m 4 months pregnant now, and wondering if the doctor is supposed to check? If not, when? I’m asking because I’ve been feeling pain during sex like my vaginal muscles are cramping. Also, my vagina seems to not what to let my boyfriend inside at times. He said it feels too tight. When he did get it inside he said it stopped at a certain point, like it was “cone-shaped”? 
I was also wondering if that was normal for anyone else?

Most practices routinely don’t do pap smears until 21years old, even if you’re sexually active (as you can get STD testing via urine prior to this time). I worked in an OB office & a lot of times we completed the Pap smear at their postpartum exam, not during pregnancy. I would just ask your doctor :)

I don’t know.  I’m kinda surprised the didn’t do a pap at your first appointment.  I only say this because I was due for one at my first appointment with baby number one and they did one.  I know they will swab you at 34-36 weeks for Group B Strep but that’s not a pap... I would ask.  Or maybe they’re waiting for your follow up appt...

I've been going since 14 when I got my period and had pap smears since 16. I was 7 month past my most recent pap smear when I went for my first ob appointment and they still did an internal exam anyways. My doctor told me they'll start checking for dialation and all that around week 34/35 though. They haven't done any other internal exams since that one though. My sister in law had a baby December 18th and she said they started checking her at 33/34 for her practice. Hope this helps!

I had just turned 21 when I got pregnant with my daughter, but my OB would not have done a PAP is I had not been 21. He would have still run the whole panel of STD tests, and done the test for Strep B. I would ask about the vaginal pressure, but they don’t usually check your cervix after the first appointment. My OBs have always checked that the cervix is closed and that my uterus was positioned well, but then they didn’t check my cervix again until 36 weeks. Some of the pressure you’re experiencing can be normal. There is also 50% more blood in your body during pregnancy, and when you’re aroused, it’s normal for more to flood to your groin area, which may explain the difference in what you’re feeling during sex. Some women are also much wetter during pregnancy, and some women are quite dry. Maybe you guys could try some good lube if you haven’t already. I’m not saying not to bring it up to your doctor, though. The uncomfortableness in the vagina is a commonly reported discomfort during pregnancy.
