When did doc say to stop taking progesterone?

My doctor told me to take it until I’m 10 weeks pregnant but I recently saw a post about not stopping it abruptly and now I’m nervous (currently 8+4). Can people please comment what your starting progesterone levels were and what instructions you were given regarding discontinuing it (week as well as anything about weaning off)?

Listen to your doctor because there are different reasons for taking it.  For many people, you stop after the first trimester because it is being used to prevent early miscarriage. The placenta takes over and you’ll be fine when you stop. I’m taking it to 36 weeks because I have a history of preterm rupture (water breaking before 36 weeks) and it helps to keep the cervix long and closed and prevent water from breaking. I’m sure there are other reasons to take it that warrant different lengths. Listen to your doctor and don’t doubt the advice you were given because someone else was told something different.

I’m not sure of my Progesterone levels but I took 2 pessaries daily (one morning, one night) until the end of week 10, and then my OB said to have one week at one pessary so last night was my last at 11+6 😊

My midwife said to stop taking it the end of week 12

I stopped taking mine at 12w at that point the placenta takes over. Trust me I was scared too

I stopped taking it after the first trimester. I think I was 14 weeks. I wanted to wean myself off but my husband was like, everything will be fine she said stop taking it. So I stopped. I’ll be 35 weeks tomorrow! Good luck!
