Foods to avoid?

Just found out I’m pregnant! Due September 2019 ❤️ Does anyone have a link or suggestion on where to look for a comprehensive list of foods to avoid while pregnant? Want to start out on the right foot!! Thank you!!

Just eat food. Most of the “rules” you will hear are outdated and silly. 
Just no alcohol or drugs.

There are several charts online that give a list of the safest fish to eat (low in mercury), but I don’t remember a specific website. As a rule of thumb, smaller fish generally have less mercury than big fish. Tuna is huge, so it’s not as safe as salmon or sole, for example. I started buying the brand “Safe Catch” when I craved a tuna sandwich every once in a while because it has lower mercury than most.
As far as other things, just use common sense to avoid food poisoning. Most things that should be avoided are food items that are higher risk for listeria, salmonella, ecoli, etc. This includes: anything from an open deli (any premade salads - potato salad, macaroni salad, green salad, etc. deli meat, deli cheese, etc), sushi or any undercooked meat or eggs. Keep in mind, salad that you make at home or eat in a restaurant is probably fine, but it seems like most food poisoning recalls come from things like certain lettuce greens (remember the Romaine recall?) and bean sprouts, etc, so be cautious. If you’re craving a sandwich, it’s best to make it yourself and heat up the meat before eating it. Alcohol is an obvious one to avoid, but I even stopped cooking with wine since it doesn’t “burn off” like so many people believe. My husband and I stopped going to Prix Fixe restaurants because they love serving raw fish, meat, eggs, etc. Fancy restaurants also love making their own sauces using raw eggs (homemade aioli, homemade mayonnaise, etc), so don’t be afraid to ask. Luckily, most restaurants in the US only serve pasteurized cheese, but I’d double check before ordering a cheese plate with any soft cheese.
