BIRTH STORY
Although I gave birth almost 3 months ago, it seems so much longer than that.
On October 17th (my due date) I had my last appointment before a set induction date of October 24th. I was not feeling any contractions/Braxton hicks, I felt great actually (other than wanting to meet my son), and I had a perfect pregnancy. I went to my appointment where they told me I was 2cm dilated and 80% effaced. I had my membranes striped and I went on with my day.
Because my due date was here and we lived hours away from parents and sibling, everyone came to stay for a few days Incase anything happened before the 24th. We went out to dinner, shopping and the movies and STILL I felt nothing. I was sure I was going to go all the way to my induction date. Later that evening we got home and I had my work to finish up, so I decided to give bouncing on the yoga ball a go. I didn’t bounce very long, but just as I remember that I was on the ball. I finished my work and we went to bed. Around 3am I woke up thinking I had sweat so much that I had made my underwear damp. So I got up and went to the bathroom to check. Thank

But as I bent over to pull my underwear and pants off I noticed I started leaking something so I sat on the toilet. I figured I just peed myself some and left it. I went to my closet to get new clothes and as I came back in the bathroom a flood of water came out AGAIN. I made it part way on the toilet before it stopped.

When I got up and looked at it I though that maybe someone spit in the toilet or something. Once again it happened, but as it came out I had a small sharp pain in my abdomen and I knew my water had broke! So I woke up my husband and made him call our parents and make sure the car is ready to go. We waited until 6:30am to go in because we knew that’s when my OB specifically would be in to deliver the baby if we gave birth that day (October 18th).
I showered, changed, packed and ate some breakfast easy, no pain. We went in and they took me to triage to confirm it was my water and that everything was good then I was taken back to the delivery room.
I took a nap, showered again, and talked with my husband about meeting our son. Time passed and it wasn’t until about 11am I started to feel some contractions. The nurse checked me at about 11:30 and I was only still at a 2. I waited it out until about 12:10 that it got way to bad to handle and I kept requesting medication, but they told me I wasn’t far enough along. I told her there’s no way that I could feel my body pushing. She checked me again (thanks to the awesome nursing student who told her that there was no way I was still at a 2). I had went from a 2 to a 10 in 40 minutes she said.
The nurses in the room rushed to get ready to deliver my son. My OB arrived shortly after I was checked. I pushed and pushed and pushed! My sons heart beat dropped last minute before he arrived so I need vacuum assistance. I was comfortable with this because my OB knew exactly how I wanted my birth to go and I got it that way. She always knew that if anything was wrong and I needed to step out of my birth plan to get my son out safe then go to for it! 8 minutes of pushing and my son had finally arrived!

James Lee born October 18th at 12:21pm. 7lbs and 13 oz. 21.3 inches long. Healthy as could be❤️
We spend the next two days in the hospital before being discharged as normal and had no complications. I felt great, and I was back down my original size for the most part.
My son did have a deep dimple on his tailbone in his butt crack and caused concern but after an ultrasound showed it wasn’t attached to his backbone and was fine! (Thank god) He has a slight spike in his Billy Ruben before we left, but if it didn’t go down shortly for us to come back.
I’ve never felt so much excitement and love for my son!💙
