IUI and Miscarriages

Anyone ever get an IUI in hopes to decrease miscarriage?

I see a Reproductive Endo and she is having me take a fertility medication and then go in for a IUI.

I usually get pregnant on my own- they just do not stick. I have “recurrent miscarriages”, I just don’t want to spend more money to miscarry again 😕

A friend of mine had recurring miscarriages and did the PGD testing. The insurance wouldn’t cover IVF until she did 2 unsuccessful IUIs. She did the 2 IUIs with no luck but had 2 successful rounds of IVF and a healthy 4 y/o daughter and 1.5 y/o son.

I’m so sorry! I’m guessing your insurance doesn’t cover any of it? Is it possible to look into higher cost insurance options? We did that through my husband’s job because the amount we’d pay for fertility treatments was way more than we’d pay for the better insurance.

That’s great to hear! My specialist is hesitant to have me do IVF with how many losses I’ve had as she’s afraid we will waste the money. IUI is not nearly as much so she said it’s worth a shot. I’ve had 6 miscarriages and 1 was a late term loss. It was my twin pregnancy I lost one in the first trimester then the second a little before 20 weeks. I guess she wants to exhaust every idea before IVF. It just sucks to keep trying just to loose them. I get pregnant every time we try.

I have heard others say they were on it but that they had to stop at 12 weeks as there isn’t enough evidence yet to say it’s safe, so I figured once I was pregnant I would have to get off it- my doctor never mentioned that though so makes sense
