Small victory!
Just wanted to share my small breastfeeding victory! For both my babies I had to start supplementing with formula because they dropped more than 10% of their birth weight and weren't producing enough wet or dirty diapers. I was devastated the first time and just felt resigned to the fact that I wasn't able to produce enough. It was so frustrating because I am such a type A person and when I set out to do something, I am almost always successful. So after having another natural birth with my baby girl (if I grow them and push them out without any help, WHY can't I feed them without help?!?!) and AGAIN needing to supplement, I decided I was going to try harder to increase my supply. I met with a lactation consultant, started a serious pump and supplement schedule, and was chugging water and eating around the clock. I am definitely not at the point of exclusively breastfeeding but yesterday I only had to give baby girl an ounce and a half of formula! That is down from about 10 ounces a day when I first started this process about 2 weeks ago! I am so proud!
