Would you let someone with a serious drug/alcohol abuse problem around your kids?

My mom is an alcoholic who refuses to get professional help for her mental disability, and she refuses to go to rehab. She’s been giving tons of medicine that would help but she’s throws them away. She drinks everyday and she’s she’s both an angry and sometimes a happy drunk. But mainly she’s an angry drunk. She’s gone as far as stabbing someone when she was drunk that’s a whole different story though.

I’m not pregnant right now. But i do want to start having kids sooner or later.

I wouldn’t mind her seeing my kids but I wouldn’t want her to be alone with them. I would only allow her to spending alone time with them when she starts actual trying to get some help.

Am I justified to do that?
