Best regular milk alternative?

My one year old developed diarrhea after starting whole milk. He’s not totally lactose intolerant (always drank a milk based formula, fine with cheese, yogurt, etc) but the doctor recommended trying an alternative. Looking for pros and cons of the different options.

Fat content is a major factor early on- you want a higher concentration. And soy has a lot of estrogen; I would aim for a nut milk more than anything I think, or maybe try a goat's milk if that's reasonably available to you.

Goat milk! I drink it and love it, it has super healthy fats that are very easy to digest. It’s supposed to be good if your child has eczema. I plan on skipping cow’s milk with my daughter and having her drink goat’s milk. https://www.healthline.com/health/benefits-of-goat-milk#1

Look into oat milk also, it's easy to find and delicious. You can make it at home too with oats and sweeten if desired
