Entertaining a 5 week old

How are you ladies entertaining/playing with your newborns? I try little books, the tummy time mat, stuffed animal rattles, and other things, but she doesn't seem to like much. Over the past week she seems to have gotten a little meaner too, lol. I don't know if she's learning the cause/effect thing or what, but she'll holler (not cry) in such an aggressive way that it makes me wonder if she's trash talking me, lol. What she's also started doing is "asking" for her pacifier, but when we try to give it to her she'll try to fight our hands or keep turning her head back and forth really fast. But when we stop trying to give it to her she acts like she wants it. Its driving me crazy!
