Labor story!
Guess I should share mine too :) Wednesday at the end of the work day i told my coworkers i had a sneaking suspicion I wouldn’t be seeing them the next day. Got home, said to my husband “this might be our last family of 3 dinner”. Got my 19 month old to bed around 8:30, watched a movie until 11 and fell asleep. Woke up around midnight with some contractions and started timing them at 7 min apart. Text my mom to be on call just in case!! They slowed down, I fell back asleep. Woke up about an hour later with terrible cramps. Had some bleeding. This was around 3:30. Around 5am i called L&D to see if my bleeding was normal. She said i didn’t sound like I was in labor but to go to the office in the morning to be checked. The cramps didn’t stop for the next hour and a half. I was in and out of the shower, in child’s pose on the floor, anything I could to get comfortable. Finally my husband woke up around 6:30 and I said i need you to call my mom. She shows up and we make it to the hospital bed at 7:52. I was 8/9 cm dilated!!! I told the doctor to shut up haha they said what’s your plan? I said epidural ASAP and she said we will try. But just being there brought my pain level down I think cause I felt comfortable. Put in the epidural, anesthesiologist said give it 15 minutes or so, I don’t think you’ll be having a baby in the next 15 so we should be good. My water broke. I felt like i had to push. He came back in and gave me something to try and help with the pain and it took the edge off but I still felt almost everything. 5 pushes and my little nugget was born! 9:05, about an hour after we got to the hospital. 6lbs 13 oz, a full 2 lbs less than his big brother!! It was a whirlwind but I am so proud of myself for doing all the work unassisted except for the final couple minutes. It really is mind over matter for anyone who is still considering no epidural. Happy birthing!!!
