What are pros and cons of getting it laser cut?

Our 2 year old is having a minor operation under general and Dr said now would be the time to get it done- BUT that it is cosmetic.

He said it may be pushing her teeth apart and could be affecting speech, but it’s hard to say. It does go down pretty far.

Have those who had it done later on noticed a difference in speech? Any great difference? Looking for people who have had it cut in toddler years. TIA
