My birth story

I loved reading everyone’s stories so here is mine!
Last Monday (January 21) I went to the doctor for my normal 35 week check up! I was told then I was borderline preeclampsia and I needed to watch for symptoms and track my BP! Thursday after before I went to bed, I checked my BP and it was 171/89. Waited 10 min, rechecked it, it was 165/101. I called the oncall doctor like they told me to do in this situation and he tells me to go lay on my side for 30 min and recheck it. BP came back 120/80. Big difference! So I went to sleep. Friday morning (January 25) the doctor told me to come in and get checked. My BP was great the first time, then she checks my reflexes, my head is killing me at this point. She check my BP again and guess what, it’s at 171/102 now. She told me we having a baby today and I straight up told her no, I’m going home. She said no you can’t this is serious. 😩😌🙄 I was being stubborn at this moment and then just started crying because my husband is 12 hrs away!
I called my mom, and she rushed over, along with my mother in law. I called hubs and he left work immediately!
I get to the delivery room and they have to start magnesium on me ASAP where my BP can stay down. Well it took 7 nurses, 10 pokes, and 1 anesthesiologist later to find a vain. My arms are black and blue at the moment.
I was told the meds will make me feel a little different, but not that much. I had to get a catheter because you are bed bound with them meds. Then they instert the cervidal. I’m already at 1cm and 60% effaced. Cool, they thought it would go fast. 😩 they were wrong. Hubs got to hospital about 12am and I was in and out of sleep all night. Morning came around they took the cervidal out and guess what no changes. 🤦🏻♀️ well they decided to start potocin. Doctor came in at about 12pm and checked me no changes.
My contraction was coming for 10-15 min at a time and leaving for 30 min at a time. The meds were working against each other. Doctor told me I can eat because they way it’s looking I was gonna be there a while. They brought me some food, started eating 3 bites in, I cannot hold it down. Omg. It was horrible! I try and go back to sleep, as much as I can. 4pm comes around doctor says I’m not contracting so we have to raise the dose. By 6pm I was crying. Not because I was in pain. Just because I had a mental breakdown. I couldn’t walk, sit, sleep, eat, shower, nothing! I was miserable!
My hubs goes get the doctor and tells her I need to do something because I’m crying so uncontrollably. She decided to take me off all meds for 4 hours! Y’all then I started crying because I was sooo happy. I showed, my mom went get me a sandwich. I ate and help everything down. Walked around hospital for remaining amount of time. Had to be put back on meds at 11pm. So it was time, I’m fine and ready to have my baby now.
They decided to instert the cervidal again over night and they gave me some ambian to sleep. I have never took that in my life, but y’all that was the best sleep I got in a while!! 8am rolls around on Sunday January 27, doc comes in and checks me. Tells me I’m 100% effaced and I’m 2 cm now. He decided to break my water and that’s when shit got real. I got to 3cm before I was wanting that epidural. (I wanted a natural birth but that was out the window when I found out I was getting induced) for anyone who did do it natural, you are so strong! I couldn’t do it. Man, once that epidural hit, I was feeling good again. 12pm comes they check me I’m 4cm. Yayyy. 1 hr passes and guess what, only half my body is numb! So we call the nurse. Anesthesiologist comes in about an hr later and checks everything, then shoots something up my iv again. Y’all at this point I can’t feel nothing. I couldn’t even turn my body. I was so thankful! I get some rests 2 hrs later I get check. I’m at a 8. Yes! Finally!
At first I only wanted hubs in the room, then I realized I cannot do this whiteout my mom. So she stayed. I told my husband to call his mom and to hurry here if she wanted to be in the room too. At this point, I was fine with that as long as she didn’t look down there. So she stayed the corner.
Honostly, it was perfect. I had no one in waiting room. The people I wanted there was in the room with me. I made everyone stay home because by this point I don’t wanna deal with anyone. Everyone respected my wishes! Mother in law came just as soon as I stared pushing. I pushed for 15 min and at 5:37 pm my little 5 pound 14 oz baby was here! Nicu took him right away. He was healthy, so he stayed with us. Baby wouldn’t latch. So we hand expressed: come to find out he had a horrible tie. Which was corrected! 4 days later we are home and I’m pumping to feed him. He is perfect!
