Possible yeast infection: call doctor or get something over the counter?

If you think you have a yeast infection, do you call your doctor first or just go ahead and get something over the counter?

If you’re not 100% positive it’s a yeast infection, get a diagnosis from your doctor. Yeast infections and BV (Bacterial Vaginosis) have nearly identical symptoms and treatment for one won’t work for the other. Best to know what it is you’re trying to treat so you can make sure it’s treated with the right meds.

I call dr and get diflucan. One pill and its gone in like 2-3 days

I always go OTC first and if it doesn’t clear up after that I go to doctor. I work in a pharmacy and this is what we recommend to patients also.
