Husband not coming to surgery

I found out I have stage 3/4 endometriosis and need to have laparoscopic surgery to have it excised from both ovaries, my bowel, appendix and possibly other areas within the pelvis. I’m going with a specialist that is out of state which was suggested by my husband because he is highly regarded in the field. Well I went to schedule the surgery today, booked my flight and hotel and my husband said that he won’t be able to make it because he has a test (Step 3 I believe, he is a first year resident). I’m pretty sure it can be rescheduled but it is a very important test. I’ve already arranged for my mom to come with me instead and for someone to watch our daughter. Honestly I told him to do whatever he wants but I’m obviously hurt. Also this is my first surgery and I’m scared that there could be a complication (though unlikely). Am I being unreasonable? Also before scheduling I asked about dates and he said that the end of the month would work. Wtf?!
