How to keep baby entertained while you’re cooking?

I’ve had family help with dinners but want to start getting independent. How to keep my five month old entertained for a long while while I’m cooking in the kitchen?

I just plop my son in his bouncer or activity center/ jumper thing. When all else fails, Baby Einstein 🤷‍♀️

well my daughter is 6 months and I know I’ll get mom shamed for this but when all else fails, Elmo on tv. My daughter LOVES him and would watch him forever if she could ( i only let her watch about a half hour of it ). That’s usually if she’s really fussy. Sometimes just talking to her works enough for her . Or playing music and dancing while I’m cooking she’ll look at me and start dancing too. And if I’m playing music I’ll sing too and she likes that.

Cleaely she’s too big for it now but insists on getting in every now & then lol. This has been all over the house, the kitchen & my bathroom. Couldn’t shower without it! Lol

We've never had someone help with meals lol from maybe 0-4 months or so, she laid in her DockATot while we cooked. From maybe 4-6 months, she would sit on the floor with some toys, and then from 6 months to now (20 months) she either plays with toys on the floor or in her high chair. Now that she's older, we also let her help. Super simple.
