Are X-rays bad??

Question

Curious to know cause I’ve heard some say it doesn’t harm but others say the opposite so is it bad to be taking X-rays on patients since I’m a Dental assistant? When we take them we have to set out of the room and hide behind a wall so we’re not actually in there at the same time we click the button to take the X-rays???  
I’m 5 weeks pregnant but it’s my first child

If you aren’t in the room then you should be fine. I work in an OR and have opted out of working in rooms using the x ray however sometimes I don’t get lucky and have to do it when it’s time to use the x eat I step out if the room. I always wear lead but I still step away simply because I don’t trust the lead we have.

I am assuming your technique is low so it’s not a lot of radiation. And you step out of the room so you’re fine. 6 feet away and you’re good. I do xrays for a living and am pregnant.
