Failed 1 hour test

I am 28+4 and had my glucose test this morning, my new doctor does it different than the doctor I had with my daughter (I passed with her). They pricked my finger before the test and the number was 72 so it was good, and after the hour they pricked it and it was 169 so bad. They are having me track my blood sugar 4 times a day for the next week and write down everything I can eat. Anyone experience this and it ended up being good? He said I am looking at having to deliver early. I felt like he was talking as if I was already doomed and had failed everything.
