To switch daycares or not switch daycares???
My LO is 2 and has been going to the same daycare since she was 4 months. It’s Spanish immersion at an in-home daycare which is very important to me and my husband she learns Spanish. I speak Spanish but am not fluent (even though I’m Colombian) and my husband does not. Our daughter loves her friends and the caretakers. I always viewed them as her second family because they are so warm and loving. But there are 3 things that are bothering me:
1. I’m in maternity leave and I asked in the fall if I could bring my LO part time and they said yes. Then they confirmed that on New Years. Then last week they said I couldn’t! I even offered to pay full price and they still said no. I argued that it’s a really important time that my LO get to know her little brother but they didn’t budge.
2. It’s super expensive with 2 kids there. One kid is $290 a week (breakfast, lunch, snacks, diapers, and wipes included). So two kids is $580 a week. After we pay my paycheck is $500 a month 🙄
3. I’m a teacher and I have to bring them part time during the summer so we’d be paying $290 a week over the summer and she makes me bring them 3 days not 2
So we found another daycare that only takes teachers kids so we won’t have to pay over the summer. It’s significantly cheaper $450 a week but doesn’t include diapers and wipes. And the biggest thing is it isn’t Spanish immersion. If I pulled my LO now I could have my leave with her. But for the month of May she’d be with a different caretaker then a new one in the fall. That seems like too many transitions to me. But after the fall she would be settled. Ugh this is SUCH a hard decision! Any advice is welcome. Thanks for reading my novel 😂
