Head shaping pillows... are they worth it?

My boyfriend was INSISTENT on buying our 10 week old a pillow to sleep on that apparently prevents flat heads in babies because he has parenting FOMO and his boss bought one for his 5 week old... I feel like the hassle of getting a babies head into the dip in the pillow and keeping it there, especially when they have no signs of a flat head, aren’t worth the potential reward. Not to mention I’ve read that pillows increase the likelihood of SIDS which makes me extremely nervous.

Babies are supposed to sleep on a flat surface, no pillows. My child not suffocating is more important than making sure they don’t get a flat heat

Nothing should be in the crib/bassinet with baby while sleeping. It’s a suffocation hazard. As long as baby is on a flat surface, they should be able to move their head enough that it shouldn’t be an issue.

It’s a big SIDS risk. They’re not recommended by doctors. Small babies shouldn’t have any form of pillow. Babies heads do not need ‘shaping’. In the rare situations where there is an issue with the shape then all you have to do is speak to your doctor and they will give you something safe to help them :) x

No not necessary. If your babies head gets flat give them more tummy time when they are awake, never when they are asleep

Never give a baby a pillow. They're a huge suffocation risk. If you want to avoid a flat head, increase tummy time.
