Any Dentists on here?

(no rude comments🙄 just simply ignore this if your annoyed by this) So I had to get 7-8 fillings and I didn’t understand because I take care of my teeth and don’t eat/drink a whole lot of sugar. My teeth were in no pain or bothering me at all either. Did it look like I needed all those fillings? I am just so confused because a year ago my teeth were fine and I didn’t need anything done just my 2 times a year cleaning...a few people mentioned they could have got me for my insurance and I’d be really upset if I didn’t need those now my teeth are in pain and are super sensitive when they weren’t even bothering me in the first place. These are my teeth before I went to the dentist. That one silver cap is a old filling from when I was a child. Just wanted a second opinion

Not a dentist nor a hygienist. I’ve spent a lot of time in the dental chair and in that experience I’ve learned most cavities do not present any symptoms. Once they do, generally a more severe repair needs to be done (more than a filling) because the nerve is now impacted by the decay. NOT always though. 
Some cavities are super small too and/or lie between teeth, or right on the edge of the gum line, or in places that the toothbrush just doesn’t reach very well. You can do your very best to keep decay at bay and still have cavities. 
You mentioned your diet: the worst thing for teeth is soda/pop/or whatever you want to call it. Juices are notoriously bad too because of the acid. Most foods and beverages have corn syrup in them too. Drinking water is super beneficial too as it helps flush away all that builds into plaque. It’s also about your bacterial flora too... which leads me into my next point. 
Have you been on antibiotics lately? Or any anti-fungals? Some people are blessed with a bacterial flora where it helps keep plaque build up at bay. Diet is a key component to this. If you consume soda, or snack on crackers or other carb foods or the like, drink juices or drinks of the sort, all of that builds up and lingers. It causes a bacterial overgrowth so to speak leading to more plaque buildup, etc and causing an imbalance of you will. Problem with antibiotics and antifungals, is they’re designed to kill bacteria—including the good. That’s why they say to eat yogurt when taking antibiotics. Your mouth is no exception. The medication can not discern good from bad bacteria so it wipes it out—hence creating that imbalance. 
Insurance scams/fraud. Does it exist? Yes. Is it likely? I don’t know. All I can say is if you disagree with an opinion, feel free to get a second opinion before having any work done. Dental insurance may not pay for that, just an FYI. If you have questions about anything regarding your dental health, be sure to ask the dentist about it and choose someone your friends and family trust.

Get a second opinion. But keep on mind not all cavities can be seen without xrays! Some dentists really are sketchy.

Not a dentist, but I went to my husband’s dentist since he raved how great they were and they told me I needed 6 fillings and then a sealant. I had NO teeth sensitivity and as a kid, I had a lot of cavities so I typically know what they feel like and the sensitivity I get along with it. So I trusted my gut and never set up the appointment to get them filled. 
I ended up boycotting dentist for 2 years, stupid- I know. And found a new one that had amazing reviews. I now could tell I had a cavity based on sensitivity. It made me nervous since I was thinking, oh maybe other dentist was right and I made the problem worse or something. So new dentist does xrays and exam and says I have 1 cavity, exactly where I thought. I told her about the other dentist and she said she heard sketchy things about that practice since her hygienist used to work there. 
Be careful and trust your gut. Don’t go back to that dentist.

I had something like this happen to me.
My teeth were perfect, then 6 months go by and I went to a new dentist. IMMEDIATELY, I am told I need TEN fillings. I panicked and said okay, because I’ve had a lot of work done on my teeth to make them beautiful. They offered a payment plan for the dental work. All in all, it was $4000. I went to my regular dentist when I moved back to my hometown and he asked why I had so many fillings. I told him that I had ten filled and he told me there was no need for it and the dentist was just getting money out of me. Talk about a shitty feeling! Get a second opinion.
