Too Independent?

So my SO and I have been trying to pick up the pieces of our lives and work on getting better with each other. He says that I don’t know how to listen! He says I never shut up and listen I always over take him. (I do) I don’t know how to work on this bad habit. I’m so used to doing things on my own or trying to with certain situations. The tough spot I’m in he’s been trying to help me get out of. Yesterday I was purchasing a desk off of the street and I asked him to go pick it up. He said yes and shortly after we got into and argument. I told him not to worry about to desk and that I would take care of it. Long story short I missed out on the desk and had to cancel the appointment to pick it up. He says because, I chose to ask stupid I missed out and I shouldn’t do things like that when your man is trying to be a man and still offer to help even amidst an disagreement. I know I was wrong and what are some ways to open up a little more after 3 months of dating?
