How to know your ready?

I have been with my SO for 2 years we are talking about having a baby. He has a 8 year old son and is an amazing father. I have never been pregnant. I have already happily stepped into a motherly role concerning his son but the thought of becoming a mother excites and terifies me. I do want to have a baby (or 2). We are going to try and plan it out when the time comes. How do you know if you are truly ready?

My first was unplanned and I don’t think I would’ve ever felt ready if we didn’t have that oopsie. Getting to experience the love I have for her made me want so many kids. We have 4 and idk if we are done having babies but the thought of being a mom before her absolutely terrified me. Idk if you ever feel truly ready

I don't know if anyone really knows that they are ready to take care of a little human for the rest of their life until they are holding that little baby in your arms. ❤️ I think the best you can do is make sure your relationship is emotionally ready & that your fiancially stable to take care of a baby!

I don’t think anyone is really ready haha but I think when it excites you more then terrifies you. My husband and I got married last year in an intimate ceremony and decided we would start trying after our family wedding(last September) there was no moment of I’m ready. It was something we decided together. I will say this i am scared of birth but I know it’s short(compared to life haha) and having a child- not just a cute little baby excites me. Thinking about taking them out to our favorite places. Also recently I came back from a night of drinking with my mom friends(only non mom) and I realized I had fun but I wouldn’t mind being exhausted from a 2 am feed instead of drinking haha not to say I can’t have both eventually but the thought of possibly never going out again doesn’t scare me anymore lol

Thanks everyone, I came to the conclusion (with your help) it's the planning part that is the overload. I'm excited to expand are little family. Gonna have a long talk with my SO tomorrow (he is sleeping and works early) less planning and more go with the flow seems like it will be less stressful. Everyone enjoys a happy surprise ♥️

I have a 13 year old that is not my husbands. We have been together 5 yrs, married 3. We decided we were ready after remodeling our home and feeling like life is stable. Having more kids has been an on and off topic in our house for 2 years. We had lots of learning to do about coparenting my 13 yr old, we went to counseling to help us figure it out. I was used to parenting all on my own. Once the parenting fights stopped we became more serious about trying. Currently 12w6d.
