Contractions, what do they feel like?

I’ve read that with a real contraction your entire stomach will harden, and with Braxton- Hicks your stomach will only get semi-hard.
I had contractions a few days ago and my entire stomach got hard so I feel like this isn’t true. But with true labour could just part of your stomach be hard or will it be fully hard? Anyone know?
I might be having contractions right now but I find it hard to tell. At the moment where the baby is it feels tight but the rest of my stomach is soft, maybe babies just in a weird spot and moving?

Your entire tummy should get hard but honest it is so subjective with each woman, I describe contractions as period cramps on steroids

When I was in the hospital for preterm the. Nurse told me how they "judge" if it is or isnt a contractions. If your stomach feels like your chin it's a light, nose medium and forehead hard and they'll feel the entire stomach.

I didn’t even notice the hardness of my belly to be honest when I was actively in labor. I just thought they were Braxton Hicks contractions but they got more unbearable so I timed them and that’s the only way I knew.

With real contractions you might also feel cramping creeping around to your back

I've had Braxton Hicks take the bottom half or the top half of my tummy. And recently they start out tightening my whole tummy then fade off into the top or bottom.
