When is a good length before introducing a boyfriend to your child? A little back story me and her father were together for 2.5 yrs, he was very controlling and manipulative and dumped me around 6 months ago. Thank God. He got a new gf literally 3 days later but that's another story, so I have full custody of her he gets her one day a week. I recently met a really awsome guy who I really like he loves kids, even got her a valentines gift. We have been dating for a few weeks, he treats me so good and is absolutely amazing. I was thinking a few months but I was just curious what everyone's opinions are. I dont want to hurt or confuse my daughter. She is almost 2 btw.

When he’s talking about marriage. Your child doesn’t need to meet every man you sleep with. Commitment should be there first

Right away. Do it now. Why wait until later just to find out your daughter and him don’t vibe well. You want to learn how that dynamic will be sooner than later so you don’t waste time. Just introduce him as a friend.

I think it’s more about how you feel your relationship is going and not so much a time limit. Definitely several months is important to gauge that, though. I was dating a man who had 3 kids and he tried introducing me to them after 1.5 months and I actually broke things off with HIM because of that. It was a giant red flag to me that he couldn’t see that our relationship was not going that well, so I decided to nip it in the bud. But if things HAD been going well and I felt confident in us, it would’ve been a different story. Just make sure you and boyfriend are on the same page and aren’t rushing.

3months or more so you know if it’s turning into a serious relationship. My daughter gets attached to people quickly and I wouldn’t want her getting upset if he suddenly called it quits.

6 months to a year is what I would do. I let my boyfriend meet my niece after 7 months being together and I waited a long time before he met my family too

You wait until you know enough about the man to know he isn't crazy and you introduce them somewhere very public. My son was 3 he never met his bio dad and hopefully never will meet the abusive bastard. I didn't wait very long. Maybe a month because the night we met I also met his entire family and knew he wasnt a psycho. We're now married and my son calls him daddy.

My bf meet my son before we where  just talking (friends). I did that because in my past relationship he did not care about my son he meet my son 1 yrs after we started to date and i realize he did not care for my son and i already had wasted 1 yr in a relationship with a guy that did not care for my son and he knew i had a child the whole time. With my current bf he has 4 kids and i have one for both of us it was important that we saw that each other liked our kids. because he was in a previous relationship like mine that they did not care about our kids. We only dated 2 months and we moved in together and we been together for 2 yrs. You will know when its the right time there is no right answer/time you just know.
