Would it be unethical for me to have a child, knowing what I know?

My mom had thyroid cancer, and 1/2 of her daughters (so far) including me have been diagnosed with autoimmune thyroid diseases.

I had thyroid cancer, conceived and carried to term a beautiful healthy baby. Thyroid issues tend to run in family’s but are easy to manage if caught properly.

I don’t think there’s anyone in this world whose family tree is free of diseases. If you have some kind of debilitating disease and doctors told you that more likely than not you’d pass it down to your child then imo it would be kind of selfish to still have a child but to each their own

I don't think so. Thyroid issues run on my mother's side. My mother has had half of hers removed. My siblings are healthy and they have healthy children. It would not stop me from trying but I try to be concious of how I treat my body. I also keep my doctors informed.
