Positive, successful induction at 39 weeks, 4 days
Our son was born on Thursday, 2/28/19, at 39 wks & 4 days. We had a scheduled induction to help us plan for the care of our toddler, who is 21-months-old. I wouldn’t have done the induction if the OB didn’t say that my cervix was favorable. When we started, I was 3-4 cm dilated and 80-90% effaced. Induction started at 4:30/5:00am and little Luke was born at 12:01pm. He weighed 8 lbs 11 oz and measured 21.5”.
I wasn’t sure if I wanted the epidural or not, so I labored for a while without it. I got to 8-9 cm dilated without it, but the contractions were coming back to back and although I could technically handle them, they were too frequently painful to not have a sense for how long they’d last. So I got the epidural, which was lovely and worked like a charm. I felt warm and cozy. 😁 Rested for 30-45 min, then pushed the babe out with 3 contractions. Overall great experience and going home today!
