Five weeks early!

At 34 weeks and 5 days, Baby’s dad left for a business conference across the country. I dropped him off at the airport at noon and on the ride asked him what he would do if I went into labor while he was gone. He said fly home immediately.

I went to bed that night without talking to him because I went to bed before he made it into his hotel. Woke up at 1am to pee and as I was climbing back into bed, my water broke. I called the labor and delivery line, then my mom to ask for a ride to the hospital, then called my husband... who didn’t answer. Spent the next three hours calling his cell without answer, looked up the conference hotel and tried to get out through to his room, texted and emailed his coworkers who were also at the conference. Eventually he called me and his said, “why do I have 35 missed calls?”

I managed to get in touch with him at 4am and he got back at 5pm. Our son was born at 11:48pm.
