Diaper size?

Question

My 1 month old keeps leaking through his newborn diapers, but size 1’s are huge on him. What do you have him wear during this “in between” stage? Too big or too small?
I’ve tried Huggies and Pampers and have experienced the issue in both. Thanks in advance!

In my experience, too big is better than too small. As long as there isn't huge gaps in the legs it should be fine. But I had big babies and diapers didn't stay too big for long. I always needed to go up diaper sizes for leaks.

Are you pointing his penis down? Not pointing his penis down is a really common cause of leaks in any size or type of diaper.

My sister in law is having the same problem with her daughter, she found that honest company diapers fit a little smaller than pampers. They’re working well for her

I went through that too pampers, luvs and huggies snug and dry were a no no for my baby. We ended up trying either huggies overnights or huggies little movers . The little movers worked the best for our baby. It somehow holds a lot more pee.

What I did during that in between stage is this: I used the bigger diaper but when I put it on, after I had fastened the tabs I grabbed each corner of the front of the diaper (behind the flaps that the adhesive tabs are on) and tugged up on it which tightened up the legs. That helped a lot until he fit in the size ones better.

I was having bad leeks the next size was to big but I tried it and the leeking stopped.

Put him in size ones. Bigger is better then to small. Though, they can still leak if they are way way way to big.

Too big is better than too small. I used amazon brand when baby was that little and really liked them. Then I switched to pampers cruisers when he fit in size 4 at around 5 months since they didn’t leak as much. The rule my doctor said to us was if baby leaks pee then the diaper is too big. If baby leaks poop then diaper is too small. Idk how true that is but as soon as my baby had a couple blow out diapers then I knew it was time for the next size up. I actually don’t think my baby has ever leaked pee though. It’s worked for us and we’ve loved amazon brand and pampers cruisers.
