Should I let him see my son?

Hi all, I’m just wondering if you guys had a deadbeat who’s never met his child wanted nothing to do with the child all of a sudden pop up and want to be in the child’s life? How do you deal with this? Do you let them? He called my child nothing and denied him.

I would make sure you sit down and talk with him first. Have him explain what has changed to make him now want to be a father. Ask about life details including housing, drug use, etc. Then if you feel okay with it I would start with very laid back supervised visits. Also depending on how old the child is, you’re going to want to be up front with them.

Oh gosh. If his rights were terminated, I feel that you have every right to move forward without him. I’m so sorry you’re in this situation. 
Also, as a recovering drug addict, i know firsthand that it is very common for people to relapse. So that would be my biggest concern. Sadly, I think I would move on without him. Such an awful situation and my heart goes out to you.

Is he on the birth certificate? Because honestly you would have to show mee this is for real for real before I let you in my child’s life and you become a revolver door dad...

Depending on the age of the child ask the child. If they’re too young I’d let him see them supervised initally until he shows he’s serious & can be trusted
