Help! Newborn and I think I am getting a cold sore?!

I have a 11 week old baby and I think I’m developing a cold sore. I’ve never had one before I don’t think - though my sister said I had them as a child. My husband doesn’t have them and I’ve never had one before in memory. 
I’m really worried about spreading to my baby - how do I prevent this from happening if it is a cold sore? 
My lip is a bit swollen in the middle and it’s either cracked or a cold sore coming on.

Lysin tablets can help prevent/ reduce life span of cold sores. Not sure if your nursing, if so double check with your doctor that it’s safe to take while nursing. Abreva is also a good cream to use to help it heal faster ( although expensive as heck for such a small amount).

And don't touch it. I know they can itch but ignore the urge.

No kissing or contact with area and wash hands frequently. Cold sores are hereditary but they aren’t necessarily triggered. If you pass it on through kiss on contact you can give it to her actively.
Use Abreva to shorten healing process.
