is this controlling ?

hi so apparently it’s controlling if someone does this. 
  here’s a made up conversation 
“hey babe. do you mind letting me know where you’re going or when you leave ? just so i know if anything happens to you that’s where you’ll be?”
“yeah sure no problem. i would want the same as well” 
because like i don’t see the problem. i never would have thought it was controlling to ask somebody where they’re going or asking them to let you know when they leave the house.  
there’s no other information to this “convo” that’s literally all of it.  and especially if the feelings mutual like he would like me to let him know. 
any thoughts ?

It’s not controlling to ask someone’s plans so that you can be aware if anything happens. 
Usually controlling behavior are things like these:
- Where are you going? When will you get there? How long are you staying? What time are you leaving? Who are you going to be with? Why do you have to go / Why are you going? Why are they going with you? You didn’t ask me first, I didn’t say you could go. Why are you out so late? Why don’t you know when you’ll be home? I don’t like you seeing them, you’re not allowed.
It’s controlling when the purpose of asking the question of “where are you going / what time?” is being used to determine whether or not the partner “allows” it to happen, as if you need permission.
It’s not controlling to request that your partner let you know where you’re headed and at what time so that they can make sure you’re safe. Like a buddy system, someone should always know where you are or where you’re going in case you don’t make it there or back safely.

I would want to know someone’s plans if they were doing something potentially dangerous or far away or alone. And I’d be fine if he wanted to know the same thing for me

Normal to me as I do the same , id rather them let me know they made it to the location they Needed to be instead of texting while Driving and giving more of a cause for something to happen while getting there
