4 hour contractions

So I’m going on 38 weeks, and did A LOT of walking yesterday, pretty much 8 hours shopping lol as soon as got in the car to go home the contractions started, and I’ve been having mild ones for the past few days but I really thought I was going into labor last night, scary stuff. So the contractions started off 5 min apart and lasted about an hour so I took a shower thinking this is it lol but then they stopped. 30 min after my shower they started up again... 5 min EXACTLY apart. We waited a bit because I would get in a certain position and they would slow down. Then they were just on and off till I eventually fell asleep from the exhaustion. I never went to the hospital because they started to settle down and it’s a pretty far drive there from my house. Anyway my point is, has anyone been through something like this? And would you think my baby will be here in the next few days?
