I’m engaged but idk how to tell my parents

So I have been with my fiancé since we were 16 and ever since then my parents have not liked him, they got mad because he doesn’t have a car or a job but that’s because he is in school and since we live close I got pick him up and take him with me. They got mad because they say I spend to much time with him and not my family. They say that he has changed me for the worse... but that’s not true at all I feel like I have become who I am because living with them they had stricter rules on how I should act and what I should do. I really want them in my life but I know if I tell them I will just get a lecture on marriage. To me the materialistic things don’t matter I don’t care right now that he doesn’t have a job or a car, I want him to finish school and do the best he can. That’s what matters to me and I love him so much... I just wish my parents would see how happy he makes me. Should I just rip the band aide off and tell them?
