Crush advice

So I have this friend and we started talking in November. As we got closer I realized that I'm starting to like him. It's now been about a month and I honestly can't identify if I like him or not. My emotions keep wavering. I have a feeling he likes me too but idk. Anyways, I wanna date him but he's kind of the nerd in my grade. Which doesn't bother me, but every time I start a relationship, people always make it a big deal than it has to be. And I don't want people judging me because I'm with him and then people be ride to him because I'm "too good" (which isn't true because I'm not). Anyways I don't know what to do because I'm never ever in a relationship. Any advice??
