Amniocentesis?

Is an amniocentesis the only way to check for genetic disorders such as Down syndrome or other disorders? Is there a less dangerous way?

Yes, this is the ONLY straight up yes or no answer. I just had one, everything was fine!! There is a blood test but it's not a for sure yes or no answer like the amnio.

No. You can do the blood test & the Nuchal translucency scan scan. I did it for both pregnancies .

I honestly would not do it because the doctor said you can do nipt no risks the needle in stomach has risks and I wasn't going to take that chance

There are many blood tests (a blood draw from the mother) that can test for genetic and chromosomal abnormalities. Just ask your dr about them.

There’s the genetic testing that’s done around 11 weeks. Further testing there is CVS or amnio
