Communing at church?

I’m 6 weeks. I’ll be going to church soon, and I’m not sure what to do about communion. Obviously you can choose to skip the wine, but the Pastor is a friend of ours, plus we go with family and friends. If I skip the wine or choose not to commune, it will be a dead giveaway. I know the amount of wine during communion is tiny, but I’m afraid of drinking any. Has anyone else had a similar experience, what did you do? What did your doctor say?

Pretend to sip, let it touch your lips but don’t drink it.  Yes this tiny amount of alcohol might be ok but if something happens to your baby for whatever reason you’ll never forgive yourself & won’t know what it’s from most likely

I took communion while pregnant. Our church offers grape juice as an alternative though. And as someone else said, you could pretend to drink it (many do not consume the wine and place nearly full cups into the basket or onto the tray) or pretend to dip the bread. As for family and friends, they should be focused on their own communion experience and prayer and not analyzing what you’re doing when receiving the sacrament.

Communion is fine when you’re pregnant. I promise you won’t do any damage other than catching the common cold/flu. The amount of alcohol you are consuming doesn’t make it to your blood stream. However, no one will blame you for skipping...

It’s a good question I’ve thought about it myself. I honestly don’t think that one sip will hurt the baby but I haven’t had to deal with it yet. Still on the fence if I would continue to take communion or not when I get pregnant.
