How long is it ok to breastfeed?

I was wondering if any other moms have trouble feeding their one year olds solids? My son hated baby food and refused to eat it. His doctor wasn’t too worried by that and she doesn’t seemed to worried by how little solids he eats now either. I just can’t help but feel like I messed up somewhere. I’m a first time mom and didn’t even think I was going to breastfeed for a whole year. But now that he’s 14 months it worries me that he doesn’t eat food besides breast milk.

I breastfed my son until the month after he turned two. At one and a half we started doing nighttime only feedings for bed so he started eating more solid foods. Maybe that will help with you too? It was easier to wean him too since we just comfort nursed for bed as well.

Keep breastfeeding but keep introducing solids too. The longer you go without introducing a particular food, the chance of developing a food allergy to it increases.

It's okay to breastfeed for as long as the mom and the baby want to. My son was the same and still now at two doesn't really like food. Some babies are like that. I think you should look at it this way: how amazing that he wants to breastfeed! He's getting nutrients and what he needs from there. Continue to encourage food, but don't stress about it since he's at least getting breastmilk! My baby stopped nursing out of the blue at 18 months and didn't replace the breastmilk with anything else and we've had huge problems ever since. So be happy that at least something works and he's healthy :)

Breastfeed for as long as you both want to. Many health organizations recommend nursing for at least 6 months but ideally 2-4 years (depending on what you read) if you're still enjoying it since it's so good for your little one.

My son is over two and I still nurse him. We’re down to once a day before nap for few months now but you can breastfeed as long as you want. I’m wanting mine to self wean and he is close. Some people breastfeed till five so your not weird for nursing at 14 months
