Any advice?

Question

I’m needing advice this is the first time being in the pill. But yet my doctor said not to take it til I get my next period and to take it once I’m done with my period. I’m sorry if that did not make sense whatsoever. But I’m not sure what to expect. Did any of you guys have issues with the pill and have another method of birth control? Or how was it like with you guys? Thanks in advance (:

I’m literally almost 21 years old and I’m just now starting birth control and I’m in the same boat as you. They are having me start either on the first day or my period or April 1st- whichever comes first at this point (I’m twenty something days late for the second cycle in a row ugh). But if they tell you what day to start it, start it on that day because they usually have a reason for it. And just always take the pill at the same time everyday. 
If you have a 21 pack bc then you take it everyday, they when the pack empties- go 7 days without taking it. 
But if it’s a 28 day pack then take a pill every single day and once the pack empties immediately start the next pack.

I've always been told to take it the first day of your next period. Don't start it between cycles because that just messes you up for a good 3-6 months. But if your doctor said to take it the last day of your next period then do it. 
I've had bad luck with other forms of bc so I don't recommend anything other than the pill and condoms.

They had me start right away. She gave it to me and I started taking it that night (but I also had irregular periods so lord knows when the next period would have came). I was only on it for 6 months to try to get my body into a regular cycle. Sometimes you have to try different pills because your body may need more of something or less of something.

Any advice?
